Where do you start wth these two! Until the age of thirty Geoff Thompson had worked through a plethora of menial jobs, from glass collector to floor sweeper; he even spent a decade working as a nightclub bouncer. Convinced that there must be more to life than this, Geoff decided to become a martial arts instructor (polled as the number one self defence instructor in the world by Black Belt magazine USA) then followed this by living out his dream of becoming a writer. He is now the author of thirty-four books, five multi-award-winning films (two BAFTA nominated, one BAFTA winning), two stage plays and hundreds of published articles. Peter is a 7th Dan Black Belt in Karate and a former Great Britain and England Karate International. With over 36 continuous years of martial arts training behind him, Peter has made self defence a lifetime study. Acknowledged as one of the world's hardest hitters, his techniques for delivering such massive impact are contained in the two videos - Powerstrike and Powerkick. Peter's tremendous impact through kicks and punches was originally the product of his training for many years with Shigeru Kimura of the Shukokai system, but over the years and with his door experience, Peter has amended and added to the practical application of the old 'double hip' system. That's me in the middle.
Dave Hazard was one of the few students at the very beginning of British Karate. Like many of his contemporaries his first encounter with the Martial Arts was via Judo, which he practiced for three years before coming across Karate at the Blackfriars Club in London in 1969. In 1972 Dave was awarded his Shodan by Sensei Enoeda and he followed this with years of successes at the regular KUGB Championships. In 1977 Dave decided to widen his Karate education by travelling to Japan and there he was afforded the rare privilege of an invitation into the notorious Japanese Karate Association Instructors’ Class. I trained with Dave in 2009 and learned some excellent new techniques. His autobiography, 'Born Fighter', is well worth a read.
Kevin has been training in Martial Arts for nearly 30 years at present. He opened his first club in 1984 and now runs many well established classes in the Bristol area. He has also taught successfully on the UK seminar circuit for many years and is held in high regard for not only his dynamic techniques and high level of fitness, but also for his down to earth realistic teaching. It was a pleasure to train with Kevin and I particularly enjoyed the grappling techniques.
Relaxing after a hard days training. Mike Liptrot rund the Kendal Judo Club, a recognised olympic venue and he is coach to the British Olympic Judo Team. Training with Mike is a fun experience and whilst he is a perfectionist his ability to improve his students techniques underpins his approach.
Russell Stutely has been acknowledged as Europe's No.1 Expert on Pressure Points, training with Russell is a journey into a world of pain that you did not know you could inflict. Vulcan death grip, that will do nicely.Russel's methods are rooted in ancient Chinese medicine and his knowledge is encyclpeadic.
