Our first cubs and scouts training was with the 72nd St Andrews Scouts followed by the 142nd Fulwood Scouts, Cubs and Beavers. Our training was adapted to fit their needs to allow those participating to obtain their Martial Arts badge. Both the cubs and scouts covered the same curriculum that was adjusted to take into account the age difference of the two groups.  Over 150 boys took part and ALL worked extremely hard and achieved a great deal in their training with the academy of Self Defence.

The bag work and focus pad work proved very popular with both groups and it was great to have the scout leaders joining in to hold the pads.  This made for some really fun group work in the final session where they learned both physical and psychological techniques for dealing with multiple attackers.

These courses are not intended to turn the untrained into experts in self defence, what they do achieve is to provide the participants with better understanding of how to deal with aggressive confrontations when it has been unable to avoid or diffuse them. Learning the simple but effective techniques taught on our self defence courses equips the participants with the confidence to act within the law to protect themselves.

Well done guys and special thanks for the nice thank you card from the cub pack. This training was made possible with funding from the Sheffield City Council South West Area Panel. We can help you access funds in your area if they are available, ring us on 07738 909125.

We are now an official Learning Destination for the Children’s University so any young person who is part of this can have their hours with us counted towards their award. If you want to join the Children’s University then passports are available on request.
